Pain Management

At Community Compounding Pharmacy, we are ready to help you get started on a new path for controlling pain. Chronic pain affects approximately 100 million Americans. It is more common than diabetes, heart disease, and cancer combined. Effective pain management often requires a combination of treatments.

Many oral pain medications have unwanted side effects including, but not limited to, drowsiness, impaired ability to drive, stomach upset, and ulcers.

Topical and transdermal pain creams and gels may be an alternative or supplement to traditional pain medications. By combining various agents, each of which utilize different mechanisms to alter the sensation of pain, smaller concentrations of each medication can be used.

Formulas that provide high local concentrations at the site of application may contain one or more ingredients from classes of pain medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), anesthetics, neuroleptics, and muscle relaxants.

Delivery method is important. Speak with your health care provider about whether a compounded pain medication may be right for you.

Scar Treatment

Scarring after injuries or surgical treatments may cause discomfort or present cosmetic concerns. At Community Compounding, we have targeted topical formulations to both prevent scars from forming and reduce existing scars. We have options to address pain and inflammation at the scar site. Speak with your healthcare provider to see if a compounded scar treatment may be beneficial to you.
